Bernard Banoun

Bernard Banoun has been a Professor of 20th and 21st centuries literatures in German at Sorbonne University’s School of Arts since 2010 and chairs research team REIGENN (U. R. 3556, Representations and Identities in German-speaking, Scandinavian and Dutch-speaking countries). For the most part, his research has been (and still is) dedicated to translation, the history of translations as well as to the links between literature and music (opera libretti). Some of his contributions have close ties with the Canon Factory project: the German-speaking-author residency programme (since 2012) with, for instance, such guests as Yoko Tawada, Ulrike Draesner, Kathrin Röggla; some research and research supervision on the alterations of the canon by authors writing in German as a second language (Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Yoko Tawada, Rafik Schami, etc.); the translation of contemporary poetry.
